Default 93 CIVIC CODE 17

my sisters 93 civic hatchback is giving me code 17....is this vss (vehicle speed sensor)? where is it on the car? she previously had a problem with her spedometer dropping to zero quickly at times, could this be related?

hey thanks for the useless one word answer. i did search. if i found the answer i wouldnt have posted. what was the point of responding if your not gonna be helpfull. i asked 2 different questions all you did was say yes....yes to which?

17 VSS - speed sensor

as for where it is, i pretty positive its on or near the starter.

Next time open your eyes before you ask a question. Just a couple of threads above this you find https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=682412 which is a thread all about DTCs.

On top of the tranny behind the starter. Not hard to find. its the only spot where you will find a plug or sensor.
