LOL, yeah the b8 is a gutless turd. I think it was rated at 76 hp.

Re: (Dr.D)
i have a 92 cx that had a 8 valve head in it. what a turd. i put in a vx head and man does it roll out. i got the stock cx motor up to 100 mph in 4th gear, 5th slows down. actually now that i think about it i think that it was over 100 in 4th and only 100 in 5th. i'm still useing the stock cx trans with the vx head and now i can hit almost 90mph in 2nd gear. can't wait to get a good head in there and a y8 trans.

Okay okay, lets not all be hatin on the CX. The CX is good for what it is. It DOES have only 70hp, but that 70hp is more than enough to get the 2094lb hatchback around town. ****, my 2300lb sedan with the 102hp D15B7 had its days when it felt peppy. The problem with the CX (as well as the VX) is the HORRIBLE transmission.
CX /VX
1st-----3.250
2nd-----1.761
3rd-----1.066
4th-----0.853
5th-----0.702
Final Drive---3.250
With these gears, and the 5,000 RPM max HP point that the CX has...here are the shift points:
32 - 59 - 97 - 122
And that is all at 5000 RPM! If you slapped an EX/Si tranny on there, you would have a perfectly fine daily driver that would be able to merge just fine and keep up with highway traffic. However, with a different tranny you'll have to kiss your 40+ MPG goodbye. A guy on here had a VX (same tranny as CX) and put an EX/Si tranny on it, and went from 375MPT to 275MPT...something to think about.
Fuel Mileage Champ, and one of the few motors Honda has ever produced that creates more torque than horsepower, the D15B8:

that's not a very good sales pitch that an 11 year old 70 hp car is more enjoyable to drive than your 3 year old jetta

I know this is going to sound stupid...but I have always wondered if anyone on these boards has taken the CX engine and tuned it up real nice and actually made power.

i don't know about a cx engine, but i did hear of someone with a dx hatch tuning their n/a engine and ran 13.xx in the 1/4mile.
