92 cx????'s
i have a 92 civic cx hatchback and i heard they have 9.8 gallon tanks ( someone correct me if im wrong ) and i been only putting in 20 bucks each refill because i figured it wasnt bigger than that well yesterday i was pumping off my credit card and wasnt paying attention and it went up to 11.3 gallons... is it possible for my cx to have a 12 gallon tank in it??
i think i do have one because usually where im at half tank would be is 140 miles now its around 210 at a half tank

Re: (civic_driver)
10 gallon for CX and VX and 12 gallon for the others as far as I'm aware. You are in California, though, and the California-specific Civics had slight differences than others. Of course, someone might have swapped in a larger tank intentionally or accidentally.

Re: (siregcivic)
I have a '92 CX also. I was under the impression that the CX had a 10.8 gallon tank, but after reading your post I looked through my HELMS and it says that all 92-95 civics have a 11.9 gallon tank, it doesn't specify anything in particular for the CX..?
The most I've filled up at the pump was 10.2 gallons, and I thought I was about to run out of gas before I made it to the station. Hmm..... I guess I can easily run it longer than 400 miles to the tank, with plenty of room to spare! Even though after about 10 gallons it's below empty on my guage.

I have a '93 Civic CX and it holds somewhere in the vicinity of 11 gallons when I HAVE run out of gas..... so I dunno... I was thinking 10 gallons with some sort of reserve.

Usually the fill tube, and whatever gas was already in the fuel line.

Re: (Kendall)
So.... Does that mean the CX has a 10.8 or 11.9 gallon tank?
I remember my CRX had an 11.9, and filling up at the pump I was always putting in about 11 gallons, but like I said above I've never put more than 10 gallons in my civic.

Mine always takes about 9 gallons or so, even if it's all the way on 'E'.

there is no way that my tank is more than 10.5 gallons.. the most i've ever put in it was 10.1 when i coasted to the station because i had run out of gas..

add a gallon of sludge on the bottom and you got it
those fuel gauges are there for an estimate.. they are not very accurate
you could probably go another 30-50 miles after the needle goes below empty... if it's an older car i wouldn't do it since the fuel pump might suck in a bunch of crap into the fuel lines
i got that number from helms and i know my 92 dx has an 11.9 tank.

According to honda's 1992 sales brochure the 92 CX/VX had a 10.0 gallon tank, while the DX/Si had the 11.9 gallon tank.
Not all 1992-1995 Civics have the 11.9 gallon tank.

Either that, or the gas station you filled up at is giving you the wrong numbers..
