92 Civic VX w/ 157k miles........how much $$$
I just found a hatch for sale as described in the topic title. The guy is asking way too much ($3700 b/o). Now Kelly BB has it at about $2900 with tape and a/c. Edmunds is around $1700 with those options.
It's supposively in great condition.
Now that's a $1200 price difference in book value.
What's a good offer I should give this guy? I'm thinking about $2300 or so and go up from there. And capping out at around $2700.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Stock - who is now gonna be selling my couper for the hatchy!!

I paid $2k for a 92CX with 250k and some slight body damage (big dings) and a pretty shitty interior. Of couse I was planning on totally stripping it, so I was really just looking for a shell.
It really depends upon your goals -- if you just want a shell like I did, you should be able to find a high miler for ~1000-1500 with some looking, but if you want a good interior with decent mechanics, you might have to go to tp $2500-$3000.
Also, depends on where you're looking, CA will cost more than east coast, etc. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I'm checking it out tonite. I am pretty sure the car is in good condition exterior wise. Even the infamous rear fender well spot hasn't even rusted yet!!!

i bought a vx hatch like 2 months ago for $1500 with 159k and the car was clean in and out. I bought off of some old guy in Rochester and so $3700 is way too high i would say offer him around $2300 and if the seller isnt willing to bring the price down just wait for another one to come around. I'm also from NY and i see a lot of hatches for sale. Theres one in Ithaca for $2500obo but it has a pretty big rust spot on one side. You can probably get it for like 2g's.
