Get a cheaper LS motor if money is an issue. Otherwise, go for the B18C1

Also you can put the head from a d16y8 on your block, do some wiring and a new ECU and you'll have a mini me. But I'd reccomend a swap.

i recomend if you go for a swap, prep your car..

ie: suspension, wheels, brakes.. and just your regualar maintainance to make sure your car is in top shape when you come out with your swap!

Swap it! I messed around with 1.5 and 1.6 SOHC so much, I wasted a lot of money that could have went towards a swap months ago. Unless you're gonna be a true SOHC nut, just like I thought I was gonna be, just get a D16Z6 motor. Then go from there. If ya go with a "mini-me", get a VX motor and drop a Si/EX head on it.

You replaced a "clutch cable" on a hydro tranny? Hmm

Anyway, I agree w/ everyone else. You need a swap. Dont waste your money trying to mod the stock cx motor.

no you can't. the pistons only have valve reliefs for 8 valves. the Y8 is a 16 valve head. just swap. i did.
Happy camper!

if you've got 2k to work with, why not get a nice, tight suspension setup, some lightweight wheels and some good, sticky tires. That'll make you look good and handle well until you can swing the 3.5k that it'll end up taking for a b18c swap...that is...if you do the swap yourself. you don't want all that power and nothing to get it on the ground or keep your car stable. I'm going to be in the same boat you are soon, when I go back to college. I'll have a hatchy with no cashy to trick her out right off the bat. I'm planning suspension first...just something to think about.

PS...the swap's not hard.

haha, you my friend are wrong!!! The 8 valve honda motors (hf crx and 5 gen cx) do come with 4 valve reliefs per piston. I did a mini me swap on my cx and was happy! Just make sure you also change out to a ex/si tranny!
