Default 92 Civic CEL 43 help?

'92 Civic LX, 1.6L, 5 speed manual, 240K miles

A while back car wouldn't start and in the process of fixing it have new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ignition coil; then for jollies I put on a new fuel pump and changed the air filter; fuel pressure was in spec. Ran like a dream after that.

4 months later, after driving for awhile and seemingly only on the highway, it feels like the car is 'slipping'. I can't really describe it any better than this right now. Occassionally when this happens the CEL will come on (but not nessecarily WHILE it's slipping). But sometimes it doesn't come on and I still experience this. It doesn't happen when going for a quick drive down the street.

Pulled the CEL code and I get 43 before and after reset indicitive of FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM. When began to happen I thought something was maybe wrong with the clutch(and or transmission in general, its never been replaced), but inadequate fuel supply I can see causing similar symptoms.

What would you all knowing experts reccomend to diagnose/fix the problem?

Thanks for your help

Recheck the fuel pressure and FPR, and also check for clogged fuel injectors.

do you think this is in anyway related to the transmission?

I've been busy and haven't worked on this yet, but a honda-mechanic friend of a friend mentioned to me that it also could likely be the oxygen sensor malfunctioning/going bad/not working properly.

He said this is inline with the CEL code 43 and also how the light doesn't go on unless in driving on the highway for 20 minutes or so....

fuel pressure and injector clogs are easy to check so I'll probably just check those first.

What do you guys think about the problem being the oxygen sensor? Any direct diagnostic for that or is it a "plug a new one in and see if the problem goes away" sort of thing?

Bump.

Seems like the O2 sensor is consistent CEL 43 based on what the manual says.

Im curious what to make of the fact that the car only has these performance issues (and the CEL only comes on) after driving on highway for some time. What does that signify, and is it consistent with a bad O2 sensor?

What's the relation between the engine temperature+O2 sensor+car performance?

Im curious to the theory of how these things work more so than just trying to fix it and make the problem go away, any thoughtful comments very welcomed

Thanks
