92 civic almost dies after warm
Got a 92 civic 4dr dx, d15b7, new head, alt, dizzy, plugs wires 240,000 on car got head from friend at local honda dealer, 70k on head he says.
Starts fine, valve tap but runs ok until...
Once its been running a bit it will start to die while cruising.
Acts as though not pushing gas, doesn shut off, but almost, then will
jerk back to life.
Know valves need adjusting, replaced head while back.
Friends at shop baffled to, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys.
Need any additional info please let me know wasn sure what else to tell

Re: 92 civic almost dies after warm
2 things come to mind for me.
1.maybe your cat is "almost" plugged and after it warms up and things expand it chokes things out a little bit.
2.maybe your ignition module, reason i say this is their is a grease under the module that after awhile wears away. the grease is meant to disperse heat away from module. once module heats up it starts to fail. usually though it will kill the car and wont let you start it back up till it cools down. im more inclined to think its the cat converter.

not sure the best way to check it other than to remove it and drive it around. but that will cause its own drive ability problems.

Sounds like a low idle problem, if it happens when you take your foot off the throttle pedal. Any CEL codes? Have you tried cleaning the IACV, replacing the PCV valve, or adjusting the idle speed?
If it happens when the throttle pedal is pressed, then your fuel filter may be clogged.

So far as I know it does, not to say for sure, however, after replacing the head few months ago i had the light come on, think it was timing related. Anyhow got it off. Stupid question, but how/can I check if the cel is in working order?
Thanks again guys

Re: 92 civic almost dies after warm
Ok so it turns out it was primarily a loose wire inside the distrubutor. As well i have a bad O2 sensor, after re-securing the wire it runs like a champ, occasional dying out is because of the sensor. Had a proper valve adjustment and now its great. thank you guys for the help. Ill update in a day or two if the sensor does clear up any remaining issues, on the way to the honda shop in town the CEL finally came on, code 43 fuel system malfunction, said thats the sensor to.
