They are both equally "reliable." Each has its respective small issues, but neither is particularly more susceptible to problems. The biggest factor in the lifespan of a car is the maintenance history and care of previous owners - find a car that was treated well, and it will treat you well. Find a car that was neglected and beaten on, and it will likely give you problems.
I still feel that the '88-91 Civic and the '90-93 Accord are the best cars Honda ever made reliability-wise, but that is just my personal opinion (though based on real-world observation).
