92-95 CX Exhaust ?
I bought a 92 CX Hatch and need to know if since the cat is directly connected to the exh. manifold that if I were to buy a cat-back from another hatch that it would fit. The car had a really shitty thrown together exhaust when I bought it and I bought a stock exhaust from another hatch and instead of a 3-bolt flange where it would go to the cat my car has a 2-bolt flange. Should I buy a new header/downpipe to make this work? I'm not idiot when it comes to cars but I don't have time right now to look at it all.

The thing with the CX/VX is that since the cat is basically part of the exhaust manifold (header) there is no longer a cat underneath the car. So technically the rest is not a "catback" rather a "headerback".
So if you're going to use a "catback" from either a DX or Si, you're going to need extra piping or a cat underneath the car where a cat would normally be on a DX or Si.
So to answer the question, no you cannot use a catback from a DX/Si unless you make some modifications. Some companies do make a specific exhaust for the CX/VX models which is basically the same thing but with extended pipping.

Re: 92-95 CX Exhaust ? (SkoundrelUSA)
I had to deal with this because I got an exhaust before I got a motor swap. The 2.5" exhaust was for an Si that is expecting a cat underneath the car. The solution was simple.
- I took the stock sections of the CX exhaust off past the down-pipe.
- I then installed the 2.5" aftermarket exhaust leaving a big gap.
- I measured the gap.
- I cut off a piece of the old exhaust a couple inches longer than the gap.
- I fed the cut end into the oversized 2.5" pipe
- I bolted the piece of the old exhaust back to the down-pipe
- I drove to the muffler shop making slightly more noise than normal
- The muffler shop welded a flange onto the cut piece to allow it to bolt onto the 2.5" pipe
- Problem solved for $20 cash
Always bring cash with you. Performance Muffler shop guys tend charge less if they can just pocket the money...

Awesome, thanks for the replies! I have a few d-series manifolds+ downpipes sitting in my shed so i may just slap one on and throw on a stock si/dx exhaust.
