92-95 civic hatch or coupe?
Hey... I'm new so please be nice..
I'm soon to be a "transfer" from VWvortex to Honda-tech as I do realize VWs are not as mod friendly as Hondas, especially the later ones.
Looking at a 94 white DX coupe right now but it seems that everyone prefers the hatch over coupes. Is it because of looks, weight or handling?? (or all of these)
The DX has 170K miles and is in decent shape, how much is it worth?
thanks for the help...

i would say go with the coupe. these days everybody has a hatch. they like them becuase they are lighter. 92-95 were the lightest years for the coupe. the price could be anywhere from 2500-4000 depending on the condition. but i say be alittle bit more original and get a coupe.

Why hatches own
Hatches can carry as much **** as a mini truck.
Hatches are lighter, thus faster and better-handling than a coup with equal mods.
Hatches look cooler

these are just two opinions just go with what you think looks better you will be able to get a coupe just as fast, you might need one more mod but it isn't that big off a difference

from the sound of your post, you'll be doing alot of mods to your civic
i would suggest a CX hatch (you probably will go for an engine swap anyways). it's light and cheap

Re: Why hatches own (moondoggy)
Yes, I have a friend that has a hatch with a turboed LS motor in it and I'd like to go that route.. so performance-wise, there shouldn't be that much of a difference.
Plus, I already have a hatch (the gti) so I might as well go with a coupe this time around.
This coupe I'm looking at is bone stock and is a lady's daily driver. It looks ok but just has lots of miles on it. So I'll be looking at an LS motor/tranny/axles soon...
thanks for the help guys..

Re: 92-95 civic hatch or coupe? (mojo powered)
Let me first say welcome.
I also have a 92 hatch and agree with everything everyone above has said.
But being that I know you and turned you onto honda-tech and also know how much you are going to get that DX for I say go with the coupe.

I have a 92 hatch, therefore the hatch is better. End of discussion. J/K!!!
Either way you go, coupe or hatch, you won't be sorry. But from the sounds of your post, it seems as though you want the coupe more. So get the coupe. And if your not happy and want a hatch, later on down the road you can get a hatch and swap everything over. Good luck in your future endeavors.

I would recommend you not limit yourself just because "everyone has one". So what. Buy the one that fits your needs best.
Hatches are lighter
Coupes can be modded too.
I was looking for a hatch before but am in love with the EX Coupe I did end up buying.
Buy what you need.
