75mph + steel plate on road = metal on metal squeek sound
On my way into work this morning i hit some steel plates on the road (where they were doing construction) with no visible signs stating that they were there. Any how now i have a squeek that sounds like metal on metal any odeas what it could be...at first i thought it was my intake pipe bouncing off my tranny mount up fromnt but thats not it. Im at work so i couldnt really inspect it thuroughly but i looked under the hood and under the car and could not see any apparent damage but the squeek is definately new and very apparent when accelerating...any thoughts or ideas would be great
car specs...EJ8 with a b16b basic bolt ons and omni coilovers

Go around each corner of the car and push down on it to hear for a squeek. When you find it lift the car and see what you see.

Good call...best i can tell from inside the car its coming form the front passenger side. I will however do what has been suggested in order to verify weather or not its suspension related.

Heh...i forgot how stiff my springs are. Not really easy to push down...actually i cant push down at all. so i guess if there are no other suggestions on what to look for possible i will have to wait for another couple hours and go home and jack up the car.

Hey what's up b16b-EJ8,
This is Jon from Lifescript. E was tellin me about your situation. Now does the noise sound like it's metal grinding on metal? Almost like your brakes are bad but it's not? Or is it metal tapping on metal? Also, when you're rolling, does it make the noise if you slap it in neutral? I can only think that going at that speed hitting a steel plate on the road like that is probably a blown shock/strut. My integra gsr use to make a squeeky noise because I ran over railroad tracks too fast and my shocks blew. It didn't necessary sound like metal to metal but like the springs were bouncing up and down thus creating that squeeky noise.
My s2000 right now has a constant metal grinding noise only when the car is moving and my tech was able to link that to my tranny. I guess one of the bearings in there were grinded down. Best thing to do is to lift the car up off of all 4 wheels, slap it in gear and let it roll. If there is no noise, it's probably not your tranny. If you still cant figure it out, i'd probably take it to a shop. I'm pretty sure you already have a tech that works on your car but if you dont, I know a place in Lake Forest called Corner 3 Garage, website is corner3garage.com. They specialize in nissans but he's also a honda certified tech. He'll be able to check it out for free.
