5th gen Civic eng is seized.
Hi all,
My son 96 civic engine is seized now I'm looking for an engine but I'm confused to what type of engine will replace my original one...My son's civic has an D16Y7 and but it seem that all I can fine our D16Y8... D16Y7 is non-Vtec and D16Y8 is an Vtec. Does an D16Y8 mount the same or will I running into problems? Can someone help in my quest to repaired the car....

Y8 will mount right in dont worry about that. Only thing to worrying about is wiring up the VTEC but thats a couple of wires unless if the car is already wired for VTEC.

Indeed, the D16Y8 will bolt up. Only thing you'll need to do is wire up VTEC and get a VTEC ECU. BTW, it's not a 5th Generation. It's a 6th Generation.
