Default 5 lug questions

I have been trying to research this for sometime now and i cant seem to find the answer.

my friend is trying to do a 5 lug swap on his 96 civic coupe (with a 99-00 front end) Stock D series motor.

I read elsewhere in the FAQ thread about how d series axles wont work with a JDM ITR 5 lug..so that leaves him with the choice of a USDM 5 lug only if he wants to retain his stock motor. (dont tell me to tell hm to swap a b-series, hes going to eventually, but he just wanted to do the 5lug first, its his decision, back off it).

Now my question is, He brough tup the idea of doing a Prelude 5 lug... I told him that i'm pretty sure it wouldnt work, otherwise why would people opt to spend more for Integra 5-Lugs.

Can anyone confirm/deny if a Prelude 5-Lug swap could be performed on a Civic with a Stock D16Y7??

Thanks ahead of time.

Easiest thing would be for him to simply buy the ITR 5-lug and just hang on to it until he drops in a B-series. But as for the Prelude 5-lug, consider this:

Assuming that the prelude 5-lug will work with a d-series, what makes you think that it will be compatible with a b-series (assuming that the JDM ITR 5-lug wont work with the d-series)? Think about that.

well no i mean the only reason why the JDM ITR wont work is cause I hear that the axle on the hub of those are 38mm whereas it is 32mm on everythng else. So I guess i'm wondering if the hub is 32mm on the prelude or is it bigger?

Dunno, ask in the prelude forum maybe? Wish I could be more help, but after I sold the hatch for the 240, I've forgotten most of what I knew about Hondas.

If your friend wants to run the 5-lug, he will need the USDM ITR hubs. They have a spline diameter of 32mm. The spline diameter for the JDM ITR hubs (98 spec) is 36mm. The Prelude spline diameter (97-01) is also 36mm.

JDM CTR is also 32mm

You can buy the JDM ITR 5 lug and just get new US spec 32mm bearings and hubs from the dealer and have them pressed in.
