Default 3rd grind. gm synchromesh?

94 civic hatch. jdm d16a. si tranny.
i have a 3rd gear grind at high rpm only. i tried maxing out 2nd gear and slowly putting it in 3rd with clutch fully to the floor, still grinds. i'm pretty sure my syncos are gone so i would like advice on ways to fix this problem before it gets wrose or will it ever get so bad i can't even go in 3rd?? i dont mind the grind if it will never effect my tranny but if it'll slowly get wrose then i might as well try somthing now. i herd putting gm synchromesh in my tranny will help the grind, iono if thats true. advice please, thanks.

go to autozone and get 3 $5 bottle of pennzoil syncromesh fluid. it takes about 2 and 1/4 to fill a bseries trans.

Did this in my 150k gsr trans and fixed the prob.

The fluid fixes nothing. Your synchros are still worn, and the grind will come back.

Yes. I don't know what the fluid change intervals are. I'd assume 12 months or 30,000 miles (sounds a bit high).

I change everything annually.

maybe the fact that the synchro mesh is a thinner viscosity than honda mtf it allows the synchros to spin more freely allowing the to work properly. if so many hondas do it maybe the honda mtf is just simply the cause because it is to thick. food for thought for all the haters..... you can say what you want but my tranny dont lie take out honda mtf put in synchro mesh no more grinding for over a year. as i see it problem fixed.

Very rare indeed if that's what he has. Supposedly has 140hp, making it the most powerful sohc motor. Again this is what I've heard, it's pretty rare so there's not solid info.

It's called G.M. Syncromesh for a reason.

Contact your local G.M. dealer.

drift4jesus suggested to get pennzoil syncromesh. i never used this before so i was just wondering if different brands make a difference.

Probably not. Why don't you try it and find out. Last time I picked up Syncromesh, I paid about $7 per quart (you need 2 for d-series).
