Default 3rd to 2nd gear mis shift..

I was driving my car sunday morning when somebody in an accord tried to race me. I dropped to 3rd from 5th and quickly hit the rev limit, so I dropped it down in what I thought was 4th dropped the clutch and all of a sudden revvvvvvvvv! **** almost 8k on the tach with a stock y8 motor. Fukk!! I missed 4th for 2nd. quicky engaged the clutch, car still ran. Finished the race, beat the accord and everything. Now Im paranoid that I may have messed up the valvetrain or something. Is there anything I should get checked out. I dont hear any noises or feel any difference in acceleration. Any help suggestions would be appreciated!

If you can't hear anything or feel anything different on the way it runs, you MIGHT be ok.

But, lesson learned. Stop being immature by racing on the street. Simple as that.

Your lucky. This kid I know went to go from 3rd to 4th at redline put it into 2nd gear and popped his 1 month old Type S Swap. Anothe friend did the same thing and thought he blew up his motor but luckly his pressure plate exploded and thats what was making the rasping noise. If your engine sounds noises escpecially from the head then you may have a problem. Though I dont think reving a y8 to 8k will completly **** the motor. You should be fine. If something was wrong you'd know. If anything you may have taken some of it's potential life away.

Define "all the good ****". BTW, are you making power up at 8,200 RPM or are you just doing it "for show"?

8k rpms most likely didn't damage anything. Just learn your lesson.

You don't lose 2700rpm when you shift. Period.

Also, who the **** races jack with a stock Y8 Civic?

reject......what i said was the power falls off at 74-7500 rpm, but when i shift at 8200 rpm it falls right back to vtec which is at 5500 rpm on a stock p2p ecu. if i was to shift at the regular redline, it falls to 4500 rpm which is 1k rpm below vtec and the car is noticeably slow due to the fact that it is still on the small lobe.
learn how to read before you run your mouth capt. stupid!!!
