Re: 300+whp Civic D Series Turbo Build
Damn, this makes me want to turbo my D after I swap a new one in. But with work and school I think its best I keep it stock until I'm done with school. Good job though that thing is CLEAN which I can admire. Keep it up

Slick setup you have there. It looks like your working in the driveway by the pictures. You have alot of room to work where you're at in Manchester?
I've been to Ireland and a little in Frace and I saw so many suped up Hondas, Subarus and others like that. But alot the houses and areas I went to I noticed there wasn't much room at all to work.

hahaha. did it sound like slap?yes. the material vitaras are made out of make them do taht noise.. lol. yes. vitaras knock/slap. i have them in mine.and everyone who has every ran them has had them do that. its one of the downsides of vitaras. did u get your rods from FJ distributors? cuz if not. ur comp is not 8.5:1 search vitara startup. on youtube. and watch. based on clearances yours may be louder or quiter but in the general idea. they sound like diesels.
Nice build there, you have basically the same build as I do. When you put it together there was probably nothing wrong with it lol, it was probably just the vitara noise. Its not really a downside as some say, it sounds sick. people think yo have a diesel in there lol. I just tell people its a European SOHC Turbodiesel swap.

350HP? The Rods and rodbolts would have broken already. The D series rods are **** and so are the rod bolts. And what baout Head Studs? 20PSI would have some serious lift on the head, you would blow the head gasket almost instantly. SO i dont know what your friend told you or what crack your smoking but that **** isnt happening any day.

Re: 300+whp Civic D Series Turbo Build
has nothing to do with material at all. Its that they are a little smaller than a STD 75mm Honda Bore and they have floating wrist pins. So they can jiggle a little bit in the cyl causing the diesel like sound. its the P2W Clearance.

Re: 300+whp Civic D Series Turbo Build
well if he can build it nice and run nice that will be sick alot of props to u bt a common DOHC swap with the same amount of time and effort can still win bt respect totally man

Re: 300+whp Civic D Series Turbo Build
Ex: Most people do B16 Swap. B16 = 160-170HP Depending on model. Even GSR is 180HP. Swap Costs around 2500-3200$, sometimes more. remember this is just for the swap, no bolt ons.
D series motor Costs around $300-500 (if hes buying another one). Full Swap price = 300-500. Internals = $500-600 (Sometimes Cheaper, I Did Mine for $450). You could get a Decent Ebay turbo for $250ish and piece together a kit from ebay and non ebay parts for around $1k. Get it chipped and tuned on the dyno for lets say $500. Now if you add that up we have $300+500+1000+500. Total = $2300. Give or take a few Hundred $.
Potential HP? 250-350WHP (You dont want to push an Ebay turbo that hard or you will blow it so 350 being MAXIMUM). I made 270WHP on 13.5PSI from an ebay T3/T04E .63AR. Thats about 300HP @ the crank. If you make around 350HP Then your looking at close to 400 @ Crank. Thats 2x the HP you would get from a GSR Swap for less than the price of a GSR Swap.
