Default 28 mpg.................good or bad???

Since gas here is $1.83 a gallon and rising. I was experimenting with MPG.

heres what I did.....this is half city and half highway miles.
I shifted between 3-4k rpms, I also took it to redline maybe 3 or 4 times.

Im wondering (minus the reving to redline) is there a way to squeeze more mpg out of my car....... i got 28.1 MPG my last fill up. its a 00 si.

im bored so i figured I'd post this

That's actually good. If you did almost all highway driving, and shifting at low RPMS 3-4 RPM you'd probably get around 30-32 mpg.. It's the city driving/stop and go that burns a lotta fuel.. Sounds good.

Doesn't seem too bad considering the highway miles. If you were to shift around 2-2.5k in the city I think you'd be able to get a little more out of it.

I see anywhere from 29-32 (city) and around 35 (highway) I tend to shift right around 2,500. I really can't even remember the last time I saw the redline or even hit VTEC for that matter.

My Si will get about 330 miles out of a tank on a long highway roadtrip at between 75-80mph.

Since it's the dead of winter, I haven't driven it in a couple of weeks--the beater only needs 87 octane, which saves me the $.20/gallon extra.

93 octane prices

I get about 20 mpg because I only take a bunch of 5 mile trips around town, and never see any freeway plus that 8k is just such a fun place to be.
