2000 SI power steering
So I have all the components and to the best of my knowledge I do not see any leaks from the pump or any lines. The fluid level is not low and stays at the same, no leaking out. But the steering basically has no power steering. I have read that if it is the steering rack, when you turn the wheel you will hear it making noises. I also have read that to see if the pump is working when the car is running if you open the ps res cap you will see the fluid moving. I was wondering does it matter how much movement there is? Should it be spinning in a certain direction? I opened the cap and the fluid was not still it did have motion but not a lot at all. Can someone tell me what I should be looking for exactly or if they know of another way to tell if the pump is bad?
I did check the belt to make sure that it is tight enough to work the pump and all the belts are tight.
