2000 Honda Civic. Running Rich Help!
Hello Honda Fam,
I have a 2000 Honda Civic with what appears to be a 93 B16A engine DOHC Vtec running on an OB1 Harness and ECU.
I was driving in the rain and ran through a pretty deep puddle due to a civil engineering fail, the car is now running very rich. Sputters at around 4 grand. and has minimal power. no water was in the oil and all spark plugs were equally carboned which indicates i didn't bend anything internally... Also I noticed the Vtec solenoid is leaking small amounts of oil not sure if this happened before or after
Here is a list of what I have changed in order:
1) Spark plugs
2) MAP sensor (the sensor apeared to be cracked and got water in it)
3) Distributor (helped a lot coil was soaked and bad... this has made the biggest difference Tach does not work anymore though.)
3) O2 sensor (didnt seem to make a difference)
If anyone has any ideas pleaseeeee help Id really like to Klara back on her feet and running great! thanks in advance.

Check the mechanical timing, also the compression to rule out engine damage.
Did water get in the ECU? Any sensors or electrical parts that got wet you should unplug and let them dry out especially in the connector area. Disconnect the battery first.

This is exactly what happened when I cracked my MAP sensor on my strut bar at the track a few years back. Sputtering, black smoke from running wayyyy to rich, dying, etc. Did you replace it?

I did replace the MAP sensor it did not help. Everything I have changed is up in the original post

I am not sure about water in the ECU not sure where I can find the ECU to be honest. It has definitely dried this happened 2 months ago and I have let plugs dry making sure everything got plugged back in
