2000 honda civic drags when accelerating.... help
Ok I just replaced the fuel filter, new rotor, new cap, ngk wires, new plugs, and bought the best fuel system cleaner that I could find..... the car lagged when I first got it... as if the wires were arcing and causing the vehicle to lose just about all power. When at idle it is pretty good every now and then it tries to die out but it will catch itself and come back up to normal idle. I held it at 3000rpms and by itself it dropped to 1000rpms with my foot in the same place as where I had it at 3000rpms. It sat and sputtered and then came back up to the held position. I dont know where to go from here without just throwing parts at it. Someone any ideas???

The only code that is coming up is a o2 sensor. Bank 1. I have not changed the timing belt and water pump yet that is this week when I get paid.
When im driving it if I horse on it none of the problems are felt or even come up it drives fine. But when I baby it is when all this is happening.

Fix the known exhaust leak. If the code returns, replace the O2 sensor. You need to eliminate the CEL code. Then go from there.

that sensor is used for fuel delivery while in closed loop. Fixing that will probably help a lot... BUT playing devil's advocate here. Does the car run OK when starting up? or does it always fall on its face? what if you floor it?

Re: 2000 honda civic drags when accelerating.... help
I'm having sorta the same problem. I was driving and it started to bog down. The it idled crappy. Now it wont start at all. It's throwing no codes for me. I put a new fuel filter, plugs, MAP sensor, and fuel pressure regulator in it. Tired of throwing parts at it. Was wondering if anyone had a clue as to whats sgoing on with my car??? Fuel pressure is good also.
