Default 2000 Civic SI Piston and Rod installation HELP !!!

First off, I am not sure the rod end caps are on the correct rod and I am not sure which hole they go back into. I did not mix them up, someone else did while I was having the pistons cleaned at a shop. How do I re-install them...I noticed when I removed them the rod end caps were alternating directions, ex: 24 PR3 , PR3 24, 24 PR3, PR3 24. I don't think it matters about the pistons, but the caps and rods need to fit on the bearings. PLEASE help the best you can, pics would be best if possible !!! THANKS so much!!!!!!!

Part of blueprinting and balancing is 1. measuring cylinder opening then measuring piston if you have a micrometer that reads 10,000 of a inch then try to match up pistons with cylinders that match the closest this helps on balance and compression. if you are going to get a digital micorometer pm me and I will go furthur into it. and 2nd on balancing if you take each rod\piston\end cap put it all together and wiegh it on a gram scale and once you measure all them take the ones that wiegh the most and shave very very little and equal parts out of side of rod once all pistons\rods\endcaps wiegh the same then you maximize your volumeteric efficiency which in turn makes MORE POWER!!! like I said if you get into this any furthor please pm me you are going to need a digital mic with pointed anvils not flat.

wow, sounds like your kinda facked. it would have been a smart idea to punch #'s on each piston with matched cap for correct location. your in luck if honda rods/caps are the cracked style (forgot specific word). all you have to do is carefully match them up. as for piston/cylinder hole matching, first reply is the only way.

ok, so if i buy a new set, how do I know what way to put them it. What is the orientation? I know to line up the arrows of the pistons so that it points toward the number one piston, but what about the end caps???

once the end caps are all mixed up theres nothing you can do but put motor together with the crank bolted down and no pistions in it should take 15ftlbs or less to turn the crank if it takes anymore then there is something binding in crank then as you put it each piston and torque them down then add 5ftlbs for each additional piston so after the first one it shouldnt take more than 20ftlbs second 25ftlbs etc etc etc. if you can put the entire block together and meet these standards then your endcaps are on there good and are not causing any binding so good luck

why not plastigauge? Sorry you have to go through that trouble. Should have put everything in labeled plastic baggies.

plastigauge works and should be used to determine bearing clearance and has to be done with any rebuild but would not help rearrang the caps to the right place. thats why all you can do is just make sure theres no excessive binding by checking torque to turn.
