Icon6 2000 Civic EX Sun Visor Loose

I have a 2000 Civic EX and the driver's side sun visor is loose. By this, I don't mean the mounting with the two screws is loose. When I'm driving and I hit a bump, the sun visor flips down a little bit. If I let it go long enough, it gets in my view and I could easily crash. It's the hinging part that doesn't stay flipped up. It's really getting on my nerves and I really don't want to crash. I don't want to velcro it because the adhesive backing would make a mess on the cloth interior. Is there a fix for this?

Take it off and take a look too see if you can tighten it somehow.

Is a replacement visor from a junkyard an option?

My dad and I were thinking about that. We tried to put something in the clip to make it stay, but it didn't work. We have some adhesive backed velcro holding it for now until we go to a junkyard this weekend.

I have an idea to be creative. Get a metal plate like a door latch with holes in it, screw it to the headliner above the visor. Then get a magnet and attach it to the visor, when you raise the visor it will stick to the magnet.

It would probably be a sagacious idea just to replace the visor. You could rig up some sort of Mickey Mouse solution to temporarily resolve the visor issue but that would just be a mere band-aid on a weeping wound of a problem.

I'm wondering if the screw or clip to your visor is broken or needs adjustment?

The hinge might be giving way due to age.

OP -- Just replace the visor. Buy new or get a used one.
