Default 2.0 D series

Hey guys, Im starting another D series project this summer...and Im trying to get a 2.0 litre D series! I already have a spare y7 block (so I can use my axles) and a Y8 head. Anyone have any ideas on how to get the D to 2 litres or is it even possible?? Id like at least a 1.8, but I don't want to have to resleeve the block. I'm also trying to find a reputable maching shop around here to get some headwork done! Thanks guys!

Send the block the JG/Edlebrock or AEBS racing and have them sleeve and bore to 81mm.

Done.

You can't do **** without sleeving.

My bad....you guys are correct. It's only a 1.85L engine.

Increase the stroke (don't like this idea) to 95mm with the 81mm bore for a 1.96L engine.

Well what rods/pistons should I use?? I thought about oversize pistons, but if I went to 81mm could I still use the 88-91 Teg pistons on LS rods?? Also, if Im going to have to get it sleeved, how big could I go?? (like litres)??? Any idea how much it would be to get it done?? Thanks!

You can still use the LS rods but you would need to go to the B series pistons

With an 81mm bore, you get a 2.0L SOHC D series engine.
Cost = around $1,300 for sleeves, pistons, and rods. So, you could probably go with just the sleeves at about $800. and buy some B series pistons (take your pic) and another set of LS rods.

LoL Thanx.

2.0L D's with a custom cam put down 170 whp and 130 ft-lbs.
Stock cam and head, I'm assuming you loose about 20 whp.

I am interested in how the teeny stock intake setup and head will flow for a 2 liter setup on a D block?

I have a spare CX block, maybe I could start a 2 liter project as well?
then make a mini-me setup thats not so mini !

good luck!

Just curious on an idea I had. What do you guys think of welding a 10-20mm deck plate to the block to increase stroke. Think any possibilities of fitting a D17 crank too?

Plus the stock stroke is already a little crazy.

Hell just think about it, your moving to the same bore as the B series engines (well most of them) and your pumping a larger displacement!!!
The D series stroke is quite large. (90mm)

a guy around here had his d16a sleeved to fit 81mm (b18) pistons and used machined LS rods. He put a home made ported y8 head on it (minime) and that motor is sick. Its like a 1.9 mini me. He said it dynoed at 169whp and it only had intake and full exhaust. Sounds like a fun setup to me
