Icon4 1999 Civic Engine Knock

I drive a 1997 Civic, but recently swapped the engine for a 1999. The engine seemed to be running fine, but there is now a slight engine kick. This happens few and far between when it's cold, but when it's warm it happens a lot any time that I am stopped at a stop sign or accelerating after. It's gotten to the point where it continues to knock as I'm trying to accelerate, and I have to take my foot off of the gas to get the car to accelerate correctly, or else I'm virtually rolling forward. I originally thought that it was a low idling issue, but it's become clear that it isn't. It's reminiscent of a misfire on Spark Plug 3, but it doesn't kick nearly that hard. I hear it more than I feel it. Any ideas as to what it may be?

Post a video of the noise. You keep saying knock. If it's a knock, your motor is done. If it's a tap, it might be an easy fix, or it might be a worn out motor.

It's not a knock, so much as a shudder in the engine. If I have the hood open and watch the engine, the engine will shudder every time it happens.

So it's a miss. Is it throwing a CEL? When was your last ignition tune-up?

It is throwing a CEL, although I don't believe it's in relation to this. I have never had an ignition tune-up.

You don't believe it's related? How would you know if you haven't pulled it? If it was on before your problems, and you never fixed it, how do you know you don't have new codes? This is basic car ownership **** - if there's a warning light on, fix it. Why do you think it's in our rules, that you're expected to pull and post all codes? And how do you own a car, but never do basic maintenance on it?

Pull all codes. Post them. Give your car a full tune-up, including plugs, wires, cap, rotor (all NGK), and a fuel filter. 10:1 the tune-up fixes your problem.

I don't believe it's related because I didn't get the engine light until I started the car with the air filter off and some things unplugged, this was an issue before then. It's not a misfire, I've had one before and this doesn't kick like a misfire.

Why did you bother wasting our time if you aren't going to listen to anything we're telling you?

I am listening to what you're telling me, and it's wrong. The oil was changed less than a thousand miles ago, and it's not a misfire. The code came on only when one thing was disconnected, that thing not having any correlation whatsoever to the issue at hand, that's how I know it's not in relation to that.

So it's impossible that another CEL was triggered between then and now? Is that what you're saying?

Oh **** off.

You came to us because you have no idea what the problem is. We tell you things to check, and you decide now that you know better than us. If you knew better than us, you wouldn't be coming to us. You were given multiple things to check and do, and you have decided to do none of them.

Quit wasting our time and **** right off.

This mother ****** done took a science class and come here talking bullshit.
of course your check engine light is in "correlation" and "Causation" to your "misfire" is your engine pinging? so you are telling us that your ears and your *** are so good you can detect knock with them?

Fix your CEL and don't reply until its gone.

As others have noted, why bother asking for help, if when help is offered, you decide it is not needed?

The reason why you were asked to perform a diagnostic reading for the CEL is because that gives us an actual issue to try and fix, as opposed to a subpar description of a "feel", sound or whatever other crappy way people describe their automotive problems.

By having hard codes and following the diagnostic flowchart, 99% of Honda issues can be fixed. The other 1% is usually an owners' retardation.

So please, pull the codes and if you haven't done so already, perform a full engine tune up.
