1999 Civic - Bumper and innerfender removal
I brought home my daughters 1999 Civic and was doing dad stuff on her car for her and I broke the hood release..... I found the TSB for the replacement of the cable but it references the following:
1. Remove the front bumper (see the appropriate
shop manual).
2. Remove the left inner fender (see the appropriate
shop manual).
Can one of you here give me a hand on the removal of these - just instructions, not actual physical help - unless you're in the Albuquerque area!
Many Thanks - George

Bumper... fender screws (one each side), remove pop in fasteners from grill, remove fasteners from front of bumper... Left inner fender, easiest way is to jack it up pull the wheel, then remove all the phillips head fasteners from the inside

Re: 1999 Civic - Bumper and innerfender removal
Just to be more clear - I may need it, How to the fasteners come out? I took a look at it and just wanted to be sure before I broke something. If it were on my car, I'd fart around a bit, but don't want to break anything more (after I broke her hood release). Dumb it down a little for me, please. Thanks all - George

Re: 1999 Civic - Bumper and innerfender removal
both very easy.
The bumper, remove all the clips on top inside the bay. Gently pry up with a small flat head and then remove them...
1 screw on each side of the bumper, going into the fender.
There also may be 2 or 3 10mm bolts under the bumper. I can't remember off the top of my header.
for the inner fender well, basicly the same type of clip, but a screw type. unscrew it and you should be able to gently pry them out. You may need to pop the mud flap off as well.
I can't remember how many, but there is a few around the fender, 1-2 up top, and few more.
Warning, it's VERY common to break thoughs clips!! Even being gentle. So a trip to the dealer may be needed for that... They aren't the cheapest things, but some of the parts guys are cool and will give a little discount on them. so ask about that.
Removeing the whole fender could make the whole job easier.
