super clean cars....Great choice on suspension. It's coilovers, not coils and springs. lol
I have the same on mine.

Re: 1997 Civic HX respectable Hypermiler
Did a few things to the HX today. I've been meaning to get new tires, and for fuel efficiency I had a few goals:
Hankook Kinergy ST in 175/65/R14
-15 lbs, 51 psi rating
was sick of the childish camber in the back so I got a camber link kit. It was about 30$ shipped on amazon, and I was suprised with the quality.
I took measurements of my camber before and did some math to get the camber to be just slightly negative in the rear. I think it turned out pretty good!
Before:
After:
The bits:
- higher pressure rating
- slightly smaller diameter (my drive to work is fairly hilly for 40 miles)
- narrower tire

Looks good
The smallest 14inch tires available are for a 2001 honda insight. They are pricey and insight owners are 50/50 on their benefit to cost ratio. I'd say you definitely made the right choice on the hankook tires
And the reason it doesnt lean burn all of the time even with a fed ecu is because of the nox emissions from the car in lean burn. I dont have any of my old owners manuals anymore but they talked about the upshift arrow on the dash and how it related to the "high efficiency mode". Only 96-97 ecu models had the upshift arrow illumination strangely
I deleted my posts. If you have any questions about the hx model or hypermiling I'm happy to help

Thanks! I did my research on the tires and the ones that claim to be 'eco' are way too expensive. I figured I'd get something I could crank up the pressure safely I'm super excited to see how they do this week.
as for the smaller tires you gotta be careful because that will affect your final drive ratio, but I'm sure you know that. These I think will be a good middle ground, just slightly smaller diameter than stock
I have the upshift arrows in my car and they are pretty strange, I honestly dont use them. I'd be interested to hear what they are for

****MPG Update****
So I thought I'd update with some MPG numbers. I drive 40 miles to work each way, and while hypermiling was fun for the first 6 months, I just want to get there and get home. so I mob now. I go about 75mph (GPS, not odo reading) highway, and I dont hold back in the city. I drive it hard.
Nonetheless, hypermiling this car is good for about mid 40's mpg on freeway. at least 45mpg. the extra 5$ savings per week isnt worth the extra hour in the car to me anymore. I know, what an american consumer I am!
Also, I did a warm air intake. I definitely noticed a difference in fuel economy during the winter after doing this mod. my intake temps went from 65/70 in the morning to around mid 80's.
distance
8519
gals
225.32
Avg. MPG
37.81

Those numbers are pretty good. If I recall correctly I got my best mileage using irridium plugs and using Marvel mystery oil with every tank of gas.
Did you ever get a vacuum gauge or scangauge or anything to measure vacuum and rear 02 readings? I think you said you had a progauge?
I think on ecomodders my black hx had one of the higher consistent readings, it may have had more to do with the expensive good year tires though. My other 3 hx's all got 37-38 mpg average, with my worst hx was a 97 red one getting 35mpg mixed driving

Re: 1997 Civic HX respectable Hypermiler
I am the proud owner of a 1997 civic hx, drove it off the dealer lot in 97 with 48 miles on it. It has been parked since 2006 with 94,000 miles on it. It needs a passenger door and a front clip. Just body damage. Everyone gives me **** for keeping it for all these years but it has sentimental value to me. I am just now able to afford to get it fixed. How did you get those seats to fit? Is there a mod you have done that you would recommend for sure?
I know this is an old thread but it's not that old.
Thanks
Jeff

The seats were a totally custom job unfortunately. I had to weld adaptor brackets and read bmw schematics until my eyes were bleeding to get the electronics (canbus) to work.
update:
The Honda is still going strong! She just rolled over 201,000... That's 72,000 more than when I bought her! That means we've been together for 35.8% of her total miles.
She consumes some oil, but absolutely no leaks anywhere, so it's probably letting some oil past the rings. This has been fairly consistent for about 30,000 miles.
Just ordered a new catalytic converter because I got the dreaded p0420, and it keeps coming back. Luckily these can be found for pretty cheap now!
I also plan to clean out the egr passageways again, for good measure.
