so i appreciate ur time in showing the differences in the 96-98 and 99-00 civics...i guess its time to shop around to find a whole front end replacement
is there a DIY in removing the front end parts? more so the fender...so i know where to locate all the hardware

hey i was wondering...my ej8 has a front end conversion and everything about it looks good except for the hood...the front end conversion also required a 99-00 hood correct?

It should be fairly evident if you have the hood from the year that does not match the year the other parts are from.

amazing post thanks! I'm planning on doing a front end conversion but am contemplating between Craigslist parts or if I should scope out all OEM parts

Gotta get me a 99 rear for my 98. I prefer the 98 front over the 99. More agressive with a lip kit.

For the EJ1/2, sedan hoods are different than hatch/coupe. For 96-98, all hoods are the same. For 99-00, all hoods are the same. 96-98 hoods are not compatible with 99-00 front end.

Anybody know if 96-98 Hood bra's fit on 99-00's?
I like how most 96-98's i've seen have the 2 tabs like this:
as opposed to this
i've seen some like this but not sure if they're 96-98 OEM bra's, or where the heck I can find them within the next 2 weeks.

Different curves and lines to the hood. It'll fit, but it won't fit well, and will probably look horrible.

Yeah that's what I thought, just wondering why whenever I search up 99-00 bra's they're straight, and for 96-98 OEM bra's they have the two tabs sticking out. And then there's the 99-00's with the 96-98 tabs.

Easiest way for me to tell a '96-'98 hood from a '99-'00 hood is this:
Look at the front edge of the hood. Disregard the fenders, grille and headlights. Just look at the shape of the front facing edge of the hood.
Notice where the hood would meet up with the front bumper on the front edge? I mean the place between the headlight and the grille. Notice that this piece is wider on the '96-'98 and thinner on the '99-'00. You can use this same piece of information in order to tell bumpers apart, even if they're not OE.
I hear of a lot of people using the amber parking lamps or the fake brake ducts on the '99-'00s (where the foglights mount) in order to tell what year range they're front. By paying attention to that leading edge of the hood line, you can tell what the part is for even if the headlights are aftermarket or the bumper or hood is an aftermarket modified part (body kit, cowl hood, etc.).
Because of the physical dimension differences between the '96-'98 and the '99-'00 bumper, grille, and hood (explained above), you CANNOT use the '96-'98 mask on the '99-'00 or visa versa.

One of the things that most people missed is the Fender stays (2, 4). The 99-00 fender stays have different angle and a tab to support the bumper from sinking in.
