1995 civic ex coupe - Does the engine have VTEC?
hey guys, just wondering if the motor in these was v-tech or not, I assumed since it was the highest trim level it would be, but it doesn't seem to be overly quick.

Re: 1995 civic ex coupe
I beg to differ considering every honda that has come out since like 2003 has a v-tech motor. B18's are vtech motors, they make v-tech B16's and v-tech 1.5 liter motors as well although those are rare. But if we're arguing symantics here, then I will reword my question: would my car have a v-tech HEAD?

how about some VTAKK....anybody?? LOL
but in all seriousness, i think its 125hp for the Z6
and hopper my guy i know ur new and all but u just jack attempted to jack the OP's thread, no no...
but remember for vtec to engage, the car must be at operating temp., above 12 mph and in the z6's case, at 4800 rpm

If you wish to hear vtec, I suggest getting an aftermarket intake. The sohc motors only have secondary vtec lobes on the intake side so a louder intake will make vtec louder. A louder exhaust will just drone it out.

Re: 1995 civic ex coupe - Does the engine have VTEC?
the only saving graces are things like a stereo with seperate tweeters power mirrors and a sunroof.
EDIT: and color-match trim and mirrors!
800rpm is a normal idle? so if you brought the car to that i'd say its idling to low. or is it a diesel model?
smelling oil? sure it isn't the smell of the black smoke from the diesel?
or am i just misunderstanding?
serious note.. why isn't this thread just locked?

quick? it was 125hp brand new! most new model kia's come with more testicular fortitude. what are you expecting? it's a grocery getter.. not a corvette.

Let me spell it out for you...those motors generally don't produce an audible vtec crossover. Stop over revving your motor, we don't want to have to read another thread that says "I revved my sohc to 8k rpm and it died...what did I do?"

Stock VTEC crossover is supposed to be fairly smooth and seamless anyway; it's not like you're all of a sudden hitting 20lbs of boost.
