Default 1995 blowing white smoke

Hey guys just bought a 1995 civic 4 door ex , I noticed that it blows smoke when I hit like 3500 rpms , no clue what had been done to the car last owner said that he just had the head replaced & a lot of new parts car only has about 158000 km not sure how many miles that is but any input would be helpful .

White smoke = burning coolant
Blue smoke = burning oil
Black/gray smoke = burning fuel (rich)

If it's actually white smoke, remove your radiator cap and check your coolant level. Is it low? Is it milky? Check your oil level. Is it low? Is it milky?

Its either the head gasket wasn't done right, or they didn't resurface the head when it was off...I think its slowly leaking in and getting burnt off when your in high RPM's. Happened to my civic, I replaced the headgasket and had the head sent out to get resurfaced and a valve job on it, doesn't blow white smoke anymore. I'd keep a eye on it over time thou. Does your temp guage move or creep up past the middle point?

I've been keeping a close eye on the gauge & it seems to be staying right in the middle most of the time I haven't really seen it creep up . I just hope it's nothing major since I just spent 2500 on it . I'm just gunna have to take it in to get it looked at .

So you don't want to believe the head gasket is blown?

op- no need to take it anywhere. go to your local parts store and pick up a block tester, cheap and extremely easy. will tell you if there are exhaust gases in your coolant. if the test is positive, headgasket is poop. you could also do a compression test, easy and cheap as well
