Default 1994 Del Sol Si (stock)- Low RPM's & stalling

I recently did some work to my del Sol. Installed a new compressor, new plugs, new valve gasket, water pump, timing belt, and accessory belts.

The issue is that when I start the car, the RPM's are either at 100 or lower with the accessory belts. I have removed all the belts and it remains the same. I have redone the timing five times already. When I originally did it, I did not bring it to TDC. When I installed the belt, I did not move the drive or cam pulleys. When I tightened up the drive pulley, I ensured that nothing moved by drawing lines and seeing if there was a disruption when I tightened the nut back on.

Now when I start the car, the tac reads 0-100. Before the belt was changed, it read 800-900. When I hit the throttle up to 2k RPM's, the car sounds smooth (and this is how I charged my A/C). A/C runs cold and the accessory belts are not too tight. And when the A/C runs, it drops the RPM's and the car stalls. If I try and drive it with the A/C off, the car will move but then stall and I smell gas. Furthermore, while it's rolling, I hear a "coughing" sound coming from the air intake.

Before the project, the car just needed a tune up, timing belt replacement, and a new compressor. Now the car really isn't usable. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like you need to recheck the cam timing and the ignition timing... i bet you are off a tootl on the cam belt.

Thank you so much. Guess that'll teach me to not bring it to TDC I'll keep the thread posted.

You don't need to pull everything back apart. Just set the crank to TDC and pull the upper belt cover to see where the cam timing is. If you need to make a change, loosen the adjuster bolt a 1/2 turn and slide the belt off the cam gear, re-set timing, slide it back on. Rotate the motor counterclockwise (3) teeth on the cam gear and retighten the adjuster. Rotate the engine a complete rotation and check your marks again.

You guys are going to laugh. Something told me to check my wires....and lo and behold I have them mismatched. It's always the little stuff. Insofar as timing, it's johnny on the spot. Thank you for the point on redoing the timing (if I had to). I'll keep that in mind next time I'm doing my timing belt.
