1994 civic 4 door
Hey everyone,
So I got a 94 civic 4 door from my father in law but don't know to much about it. I've been reading up on the different types of engines civics come with but can't figure out what type mine is. Hell, I don't even know what type of trim it is cause the previous owner ripped the letters of the back.
So I'm coming here to ask how I can figure out the type of engine it has. Also I'm fairly new to modifying engines so please noob proof what you guys say if possible lol
Thanks!

Engine stamp, front of the block, near the transmission (left side of the block as you're looking at it from in front of the car). It'll be flat, about 2" square, and fairly obvious. It might also be covered in ****. A rag and a little degreaser go a long way.

Honestly, set a better goal than just "more power". Faster in a straight line is different than faster around a corner. Regardless, there is no quick and easy answer. If it isn't a standard transmission, that's your step #1. From there, suspension, brakes, wheels (can't go wrong with lighter 15" alloys), and sticky tires are a good next step. After that, dig into swapping in a better motor (B is easy, K and H offer more baseline power for more work, J is possible, but considerably harder), or adding forced induction to your current motor.
Long story short, there's an FAQ sticky at the top of this forum. Read it.
