Default HELP 1993 del sol si need a knowledge guru please help!

ok i have a 1993 del sol si with 178k miles, and i have a couple of questions.

below the distriutor is a 1 wire sensor. what is this sensor and for what function?

also on the passenger side of the fuel rail is a dome thing, and the plastic cover comes off to show a small phillips adjustment screw. what is this for and for what adjustment and of what function?

if it helps i believe its a california car.

not to sound retarded, but is the oil filling capacity when doing a oil change 3.5 quarts? or is it less oil?

and finally in the regular drive gear position on the cluster, the D below neutral, the regular drive that you drive aorund in, is it supposed to light up like all of the other gears or no?

That one wire sensor i believe is a temp sensor.
That thing with the small phillips screw is know as a "damper assy., for pulsation". Not exatly what its purpose is but i am aware that there is no tuning for it.
Tha oil change should be around 3.75 quarts if you changed the filter and allowed it to drain completely.
Yes the "D" light is supposed to be lite up.
Could be wrong. Just throwing that out.

i would like to know what that temp sensor sends to, the car is not getting the best mileage [about 25 city and 30-3 highway] and all else has been checked, i think a temp sensor that sends information to the ECM has gone bad. i believe the cluster temp guage is separate from the ecm one. does anybody else know which ones and where the ECM temp sensors are? i need to start troubleshooting these. other checks have been made for common stuff. o2 sensor is good, ignition, pcv valve, idle air, FITV, fuel pressure leak down, alignment is good, tire pressure, no wheel bearings or brakes dragging, although the exhaust doesnt have any bad odor to it at all for what its worth. if anybody knows why the damper is adjustable i would appreciate it. and i would also like to know what the adjustment spec is for the automatic tranny shift cable is. i have heard on or around here i can download a honda factory manual, does anybody know about that?

when i change the oil i let it drain for at least 10 minutes until its a slow drip when the motor is heated up, and change the filter and 3.5 quart seems to over fill it after i change it, it reads full if i check the stick right away, but if i wait it goes about a 1/2 quart over,a nd if i let it sit ven longer it does a quart over

1993 Honda del Sol Si D16Z6 1.6(1590) Engine Oil with Filter = 3.5 qts. (chapter 1 page 40 in the 1995 edition of the Chilton manual for the 1984-1995 Honda Civic/CRX/Del Sol #30200)

I fill up my engine with 3 qts of oil then start the car and let the oil pressure. (allows oil to go in the filter) then I fill it to barely below the full mark on the dipstick. Make sure your on level surface. GL

what about the tranny throttle cable? or the honda manual download? or the one wire sensor/switch? what about which coolant temp sensors are discreet to only the ECM and not the cluster? does anybody have any more info on this fuel damper on the rail? the light bulb to the D4 lamp in the cluster, is it a honda only bulb or can i get it else where? whats it take to remove the cluster?

Cluster? the Gauges?

If thats it, you just take the dash apart, and unplug the harness from the gauges.

I really dont understand your last post, its all over the place.

Here is something you can try, and it may not do anything, but reset your CELs, and then start and run the car, and see if then you can get it to throw a CEL. I'm surprised (but more knowledgeable Honda Techs would know better) that its not throwing one at all.

ok fine

1. yes i want to remove the instrument cluster. [take the dash apart] doesnt help anybody in need of how to take it apart, let alone how far. example i dunno if it is secured from behind by something that requires that you remove the ENTIRE dashboard!

2.i dont have any cel's so i cant reset any.

3. i have seen other state that you can although wrong downlaod a honda factory service manual. i would like to know where to go for that.

4.i want to know the adjustment spec and procedure for the transmission shift cable. maybe someone that has the honda manual or a good service manual can help me with that.

5.i want to know the spec on the exact resistence ranges for certain temps of the round 2 wire sensor under the distributor.

6.does anybody know more about this so called fuel pressure damper?

7.are bulbs that illuminate the gear positions in the cluster, are these bulbs honda proprietary or can i get them from autozone?

is not "all over the place?" i dont want to offend or disturb anyone i just would like to know if anybody can help me with the stated questions.

1. use a screwdriver, and take it out, like I said before. There is nothing behind it, but wire harnesses.

2. yes you can. Just reset it anyway, and one MIGHT (or might not) show up now.

3. Other state? Forum? Well, those are published manuals, and so those people want money for them, so no one here can show you how to steal that, sorry. Buy a Helms manual.

4,5,6. Buy a Helms Manual.

7, they are not, but Auto Zone usually wont have them. They are sold online, I just dont have the link. I've seen it here before, so a search might help with that, or maybe someone can post their favorite link for it.

And yes is was all over, because all these other things came out of nowhere, without much explanation. Sorry I was confused.

Good luck.
