I have some sort on an electrical issue. My car has been sitting for a long time the reason I parked was for 2 reasons 1) Revving Issue (ISSUE RESOLVED) and 2) Tail Lights were staying on which would drain battery unless you removed neg. battery cable which is what i did to try and save new battery. I recently starting working on it again - got revving issues fixed. I had to make a run to an auto parts store and left battery cable connected - when I returned battery wouldn't crank car - I tried jumping it but only taillights came on but no lights on dash at all. I thought maybe the lights were draining the little bit of power it was getting so i decided to pull fuse for them. The fuse was located in the engine bay near battery labeled STOP. I pulled fuse and brake lights went out. I go back in car but once again no lights, bells or whistles. I got to looking in the same fuse box and i noticed that the 80amp BATTERY fuse had also popped. Finally I went back to auto parts store bought new 80amp and 20amp fuses replaced them both and went to connect neg. battery cable back up and POP it instantly blew out battery fuse again. What gives?

You must mean brake lights rather than taillights.

Check the rubber stopper at the top of the brake pedal. It likely fell out.

Are your battery connectors reversed? What work was recently done on the car?

THIS right here, I had the same issue I was trippin out having to drive through a canyon on the way home from work one night thinking what the ****, is something wrong with my brakes. but yea it turned out it was just the rubber stopper, what made it worse for me was earlier that day I had locked up the brakes to avoid getting hit by one of those camera lights, so I thought my brakes were sticking or something,

Sounds like a tense situation especially coming down a mountain!

yea it was I started trippin myself out thinking that I can smell my brakes and ****, it was pretty intense

Thanks for the tip. My car and battery were dead and heavy drain trying to charge it. Had to disconnect the battery to charge it. When reinstalled I noticed the brake lights on. Checked here and you guys probably saved me hours if not days of troubleshooting. Now to find one of those little hard rubber stoppers.

Easiest thing to do is but a small bolt and nut through the pedal where the rubber peice goes. He'll I used pennies and electrical tape for a few weeks on my DA integra lol. My current civic has a plastic push-in pin with a zip tie on it so it can't fall out.
