1992 CRX Del Sol, no boot (Trunk) lock, cant open!!!
Just picked up a 1992 CRX Delsol for an absolute bargain, the main issue with it is that the boot(trunk) lock is missing (have no Idea how you lose a lock barrel)
it hasn't been punched in, but actually removed.
anyway my main problem is that I cannot access the boo compartment to do any repairs, I am planning on trying to access the compartment through the interior first, if that fails I will try getting a hook through the hole and into the lock release (gonna be fun, might take a few beers to get it)
if anyone knows of an easier way, or has a diagram that would help me know where everything is inside it would be muchly appreciated
p.s. this is going to be an ongoing project car for me, and my first real project car, so I may become a regular on here

Re: 1992 CRX Del Sol, no boot (Trunk) lock, cant open!!!
I had a similar issue happen to me when i bought my Sol. The key wouldn't work for the trunk, it would just spin and not unlock. I did some research and no you can't access it from the inside of the car, there's a firewall there. I ended up prying the back of the trunk just enough to where i could get a long sawzaw blade in there and cut the latch. I think that's the cheapest and easiest way to go. Good luck.

found this, might give it a shot, lotsa positive feed back from it
Torgo from Azsols wrote this a while back on our boards. I have personally used it twice and it works. We even did it once looking at the picture on a cell phone. Do not drill hole 1 or 2, as they were not correct.
Quote:With a 21/64th inch drill bit and the license plate removed I drilled a hole that was way too low to do anything but tell me that after the bodywork there is the steel of the trunk itself I drilled through a half an inch or so later (1). Because of the trunk steel being a bit away from the bodywork feeling around with a screwdriver did not yield any results. My second hole had the same results with just a screwdriver (2), so I somewhat straightened up a good sized paper clip and made a small hook on the end and felt around for anything that felt like a latch or rod. Higher and to the right felt like there was a something. By this time I was figuring that by the end of the night there would be nothing but holes hidden behind my plate. Number (3) with a screwdriver it indeed felt like there was something spring loaded and pop, it was open with almost no effort.
Drawing a line between the license plate holes, 1 7/8th of an inch from the passenger side hole and 9/16th under the line is where to drill.

Re: 1992 CRX Del Sol, no boot (Trunk) lock, cant open!!!
Umm my 92,93 and 95 del sol's all had a trunk release lever on the floor pan next to the drivers seat. the 92 was missing the handle but i found the cable under the carpet and it worked for opening the trunk AKA Boot

nope, no spare cables under the carpet, only one coming through from the back and thats the fuel cap. pulled the back out today (amazingly easy in these cars) for a look. no manual winder, no cables, no access to trunk.... did get a chance to fix a couple of rattly speaker brackets though.
gonna have a shot with the coat hanger now and try to aim at the spot where I am supposed to drill.. you never know
