185-70 tire size
I'm looking at a set of used snow tires sized 185-70-14. The side wall is less than an inch taller than the stock 185-65 and it looks like its going to clear the front suspension... Anyone use this size or know for sure if it doesn't work. Thanks for your help!

Are you at stock ride height?
The size should work fine, though you should be aware that your effective "gearing" will be a bit taller and your speedometer and odometer will be affected slightly.

I'd really suggest picking up a set of four, rather than just as pair. Running only two snow tires can be dangerous because of the different traction and handling characteristics.

Re: 185-70 tire size (Padawan)
Like he said if you only get 2 and put them on the front expect the rear end to be a little loose. I got a set of 4 snows with the 99 I bought last summer. I put 2 ea on the front of each of my 2 sons EJ1's. They've been fine. I'm driving with new 195-55-15's on the front and bald 205-50-15's on the rear. The rear can come out on corners but it's not bad and actually adds a little excitment to the commute. Reminds me of the fun of rear wheel drive that I'm missing. We've had snow on the ground here since early Dec.

Yeah I'm aware of the handling change. It's not a terrible deal for me though, I am really only buying them for a road rally on back roads at an average speed class of 36mph. If I were purchasing a set for commuting on a daily basis, I would go for 4. But thanks for the warning
