12v cable fried when installing new hu, need help replacing it
hello all, i drive a 94 civic dx. when i purchased the car the was an aftermarket radio that didnt work. i took out the radio only to find that the original harness had been cut, and the wires were soldered to the radio. i cut the cables made the attempt of installing a plug and play harness but it was useless, so i went ahead and soldered the new radio wires to the the cars harness. im guessing i didnt tape the 12v wire correctly and it made contact with the chassis, but the wire is totally exposed from the radio all the way down to the fuse box (nube). i should have let the guy at best buy install it for me.. being that i didnt, can anyone help me out? everything works, for now i disconnected the fuses under the hood and dash. how do i replace that one wire? do i need to get a whole new cluster or can i just replace the one wire... any help is appreciated, really embarrassed though

just replace that harness. It shouldnt be too hard and it would be the correct way of doing it and probably cheaper than bestbuy would charge. I think I may have one.. if so 35 shipped..
The guys at best buy probably arent gonna redo that wire. they're gonna nigggger rig it up to work.

You don't have to pull the dash, i replaced that same harness for the same reason, remove the cluster, knee bolster and the piece the ashtray is in. unplug the harness from the fuse panel, cluster, radio, cigarette lighter and clock. I think thats everything it plugs into, you will then have to cut the plastic cable ties that hold it to the dash, remove the damaged harness. Installation of the new one is basically the reverse.

gauge cluster, speedometer/fuel/temp gauge etc. you'll have to removel the bezel around it (3 screws, 2 up top and one hidden under the hazard light switch)
largish rectangular plasic piece under the steering column, its held in by 3 philips screws.
