00 LS swap in 97 EX gone wrong...HELP!!!
everything went pretty smooth. all sensors are plugged in right. only sensors not plugged in are knock sensor(not one on LS), vtec solenoid, and vtec oil pressure. using the stock EX ecu until my LS comes in.
now on to the prob. when u turn the key, nothing happens as if battery is dead. lights work, dash lights are nice and bright. the starter doesnt turn or anything. my friend said usually a bad starter will at least click or sumthin. we definitely have fuel, because we didnt tighten the fuel filter line all the way and fuel was moving with the turn of the key. what in the world would keep the motor from doing anything?? once again, all plugs are plugged in on the harness adn everything. all grounds should be in as well. help

Well your problem is your running an obd2b motor with an obd2a ecu, and from the information in your post, it doesn't look like your running a jumper harness. What you will need is an obd2a-obd2b jumper harness to run your new 00 ls ecu (if that is what you are picking up) or get an obd2a-obd1 jumper harness and run the obd1 p75.

obd2a/2b motor isn't going to make a difference. if all the wires in the engine bay are hooked up correctly it doesn't matter what format they're in once they get inside to the ecu. The stock ECU which he's trying to use should at least start the engine, it'll throw codes but it should at least crank and turn over...
I'd look more to whether the starter is getting power. once it's at least cranking then feel free to blame the ecu and other wiring fubar's..

Re: 00 LS swap in 97 EX gone wrong...HELP!!! (miahmouse)
yea it has nothing to do with obd2b motor in obd2a car. i actually got it started last night by kick starting it. the starter is dead as a doorknob. the shady *** shop that it was sitting in mustve swapped out the good one and put this pos on there while it was there. my friend said he made a comment that the starter didnt look like it belonged on my motor cuz it was all dirty and **** and my motor is clean as hell. i do have a CEL but its prolly vtec related. im not gonna check the codes until my 97 p75 ecu comes in which should hopefully clear these out. thanx for the help. been a long *** weekend.

There is a little wire that goes to the starter and one thick wire. Check if the little wire is on there good cause if its not the starter wont work, even if you put it on it could have slipped off because it just slips on there. Check the little **** first than think bigger, alot of time you will over think the problem. If you want to see if the starter is bad take a peice of wire and run it off the + side of your battery and touch it to the post that the little wire goes on. It should try to start the motor as soon as you touch the post if it doesnt and you battery is fully charged your starter is bad.
