Default 00 CIVIC SI JDM NAVIGATION install w/ PIX

so i was telling people that since the links to my other jdm navigation install are no longer coming up that I would take pictures of another navi install. THe car I installed this on is a 00 Civic SI. The NAVI came out of a 96-98 JDM EK. This setup came with the entire dash harness which requires removing the entire driver side cluster, driver side underdash, radio/ entire center console, removing the glove box.
This is the complte unit

Showing you the entire harness that came with it.

Front view before install

Entire center console ripped apart with all of the harness unplugged and new harness semi ran.

I had to fix a couple problems with the 96-98 harness that came with the navigation. One problem I encountered was the he was completely missing a plug that connects directly into the heat core which i believe powers it up. I metered the wires and made my connections to the under side of the heater core and jumped the wires into the 99 Harness despite not having the connector plug for it.

Underside view

done running the HVAC portion of the harness

this is with the HVAC (pssngr side) done shifting to behind the center console and then to the drivers side.

with the new JDM NAVI dash mount I had to chop part of the metal underdash behind the board itself in order to fit it properly. It took a couple fitting tries but i finally got it to sit perfect. I customized a bracket mount specifically for the NAVI so that its a similar setup to the OEM mount meaning some dude cant just break ur window hop in and jack your sh*t just like that.

I also had to lengthen the hazard signal harness in order for it to reach the passenger side of the navi. The JDM harness didnt have enough reach

After completing the center portion and passenger side I had to completely rip out the driver side harness to the cluster SRS ABS and fuse box harnesses.

After installing all of that I powered the unit on. It all comes up and everything works fine. The radio does not play US fm stations. thats not a problem though. All i have to do is take the unit apart and solder in an FM expander which you can buy at radio shack. On top of that there are other settings that you can toggle but Id advise you finding someone that can read japanese to decipher all the settings and menus haha. As far as the GPS goes it pings your location as far as Longitude and latitude even Altitude. the maps just dont come up because yea were not in Japan. I also noticed that the HVAC powers on and blows hot or cold air, but the dial for HOT/COLD is reversed. Hot blows cold Cold blows Hot. (this is how the unit is connected directly how I installed it) - I didnt have time to go in and jump wires in the harness and convert pins one by one. hes coming back in order to get the small kinks out. The blower also only blows out of either the defroster or FACE vent at the same time as the foot vent. so his defroster works face/foot vent works. I m thinking i have to either switch up wires within the HVAC harness or I have to use diodes in order to trigger the relays. As of right now I dont know because I didnt have time to meter any wires or clean up the kinks. Im waiting for him to bring it back. here are the pictures of the fnal product for now.

powering on

the menu

hopefully once he brings it back i can work out the small stuff and have it fully running and operational. **By the way** Ive contacted one of my connect overseas I just may have found a JDM navi DISC hes shipping it over to me and once its in my hands I will update yall. you know how a boss does

The ONLY thing I don't like about this is the fact that there isn't US maps. I understand why of course but it just seems like its sort of a waste without US maps... but don't get me wrong, this would be awesome to say you had. And I can appreciate the install on this too

Um, maybe its because im not obsessed with jdm ashtrays and jdm rear seats but if i understand this correctly...you installed a Navigation system that doesnt work, someone paid you good money for this, the acutual Navi system, and they are happy about it?

I dont get it.

is this one of those M/Id JDM tyt3 y0! things?

i just do work on cars mayn, if people gonna pay me to do it you think ima say no? its what the customer wants and i made it happen. i think hes aiming to put it in shows and earn points with it. and fo sho its hella rare to have one in this good of condition. im pretty sure if we get the right hard/ and soft ware we can get it running. just a matter of time is all.

there are programs that you can install US maps on there through DVD instruction on your JDM Nav.

look it up.

Great post. Now people can search for this thread and NOT ask how to do it.

It's like how i posted on the other thread. My lady bought this Unit for it's use of the Navi. She likes the unit since it's all OEM. She didn't want it looking aftermarket. Yes i know people say that the Navi portion will never work..But i have found out there are ways around on getting it to work. Everything on the unit is functional. Just the Patrick said, its' a headache to install.

The unit does work if you have the disk it comes with, which is from japan. That disk will load all the japan maps on to it. That doesn't help us but it will work.
