00 civic front shaking when accelerating only..*solved*
I made a thread about this a while back. My car is a 2000 civic ex auto. My car is stock except I just lowered it. But before I lowered it there was a shaking from as soon as you started off from 0mph and as it was changing gears would shake in the front slightly at stock height till about 60mph. But as soon as you take your foot off the gas pedal it would be smooth and no vibration. Was really annoying . so I replaced all the motor mounts ..replaced both axles.. Replaced tie rods inner and outer..got new tires and had balancing checked like 5 different times on stock steelies.
Except now my question is I just lowered it about 4" and now the vibrations are 2x worse like the lowering made the vibration I've been having for a long time even more pronounced. So now I feel it shaking the whole front end as soon as I start off giving it throttle from 0mph to about 50mph pretty bad. And when it gets to 60 its not that bad. I just replaced the drivers side axle with a brand new one the other day after lowering cuz I tore the boot up. So what exactly did the lowering do that brought out the vibrations even more?
-changed axles
-changed tires on steelies and rebalanced a few times, got alignment also.
-changed all motor mounts
-changed tie rod inner and outer-
Trans fluid leaked out from differential axle seal so I refilled with Honda dw1 all is good now trans shifts smoothly at 265,000 miles.
-NGK spark plugs and wires
- did timing belt recently to spec
Any more ideas or what to check now would be good. Thanks all.
Found the problem..

Re: 00 civic front shaking when accelerating only..
When you start feeling the vibration at a decent speed, if you place it in neutral and coast does the vibration go away or get better?
Have you actually checked the front end, make sure you don't have anything else worn out. I.e: Ball joints, rack and pinion gear, control arm bushing.

Re: 00 civic front shaking when accelerating only..
Well by the time I put it in neutral and let off the gas at the same time it will stop making the bad shaking. Its a torque related feel that when the weight of the car is on the ground and just as soon as I start moving going up to first gear feels like something is throwing itself out of round and struggling to move freely but can't ...something like that. Yea things seem pretty tight underneath . I might get a camera and set it under there to video the axles to see if they are not wobbling crazy or whatever.
