I know I know. I'm going slow here, job sucks, pay sucks. I'm going with what I can afford. My Civic has been stock since October 2003. Time for an upgrade.

this seems kinda odd to me. Are you using omni co's too? I would imagine that the spring would be short enough that dropping the perch to the top of the stock cup would lower the car plenty (I guess that's subjective too)

Nice write up. When you go to do the rear you can knock the perch off with a hammer and reinstall it upside down. I didn't know about this till I installed a set of Skunk 2 on a friend's car and it said to do it in the instructions. Works perfect and no cutting.

No for me I have sunk2 and 17's on my can and wanted the tires to tuck in the fenders so I had to cut them. Also if you have some smaller wheels I would imagine you would have to cut them as well to sit lower. I didnt know you can hammer the perches off??? Mine were welded on but I used gsr struts.

Oh wow, I didn't know you can knock the perch off. I only need 2" to be dead even with the 1/4 panel so I doubt I'll need to cut anything off or mount anything upside down.

Nah, I'm waiting to get a new strut. The Allen nut on top stripped so I couldn't break the upper hat nut loose. The other nut broke loose in 2 secs., ain't that a bitch. I didn't remove the strut either. I just removed the entire LCA attached to the entire coil/strut assembly. But, I had to put it back together after the Allen nut stripped inside. The threads are also stripped due to the locking pliers I used to remove the stuck Allen key.

Ah...that sucks...you should just buy some KYB AGX's for the rear and buy the fronts later.

I wish, but I don't have the $200 to shell out for AGXs at this point. I'm just looking for a cheap replacement for now...

I have a question regarding this install. Did your kit come with top hats for the top of the coil? and why no dust shield?

You will re-use your factory top hats...the spring will seat fine into it. As for the dust shield...I didn't use the fronts at all but I cut the rears in half. The reason for this is because the threaded sleave will be in the way therefore when you lower the car down off the jack and the springs compress...there will be no where for the dust shield to go...it will just get crushed or bunch up.

I have one last question regarding this topic. Am I hurting anything besides not going as low as I can go by not removing the perch on the rear struts?
