I am about to do this on my girlfriends Prelude, but she's been putting armor all on the rockers, and I was thinking I'd have to sand a little to allow better adhesion. </TD></TR></TABLE>
First off, good right up tom
Well, when I prepped my car for a custom spray job I used 3M plastic prep on all the trim. It is a gritty type of lube and you use a scotch bright pad to apply it. It has been over 3 years now and no chipping or peeling. The only thing I am not sure of is where to get it because my dad paints/reps for akzo noble and he got me everything. Hope this helps.

Another great write-up from a great guy! Gives me something to do to the EF since the EG is in the shop getting painted now.

nice DIY. How about the front grills Tom? Should just spray that too so all the plastic can match.

One-way clips would be the biggest reason for not removing the side moldings. Once you pull those out they break 9 out of 10 times, thus costing you a lot of money in buying new moldings.
Removing the rockers was going to be a pain in my *** at the time, so I took the easy/lazy route and taped up the car.

I told her I was going to re-do them...So what does she do? She starts slapping Armor All on the rockers and says: "Look they're all shiny now!"
You guys have no idea how upset I was when I found out. Now I have to clean up after her mess...

Yeah right...A car wash to her is coming to my house and sitting in my room while I wash it. She hasn't washed her car, or the last two cars she has had in the past 3 years...I took care of her Jeep, and now I care for her Prelude. Now that I think of it...I kept her Cherokee mint.

Nice post nice pics etc but im gonna be a bit **** here. I think you should add some 400 grit sandapaper to the list and scuff the items up that you want to paint before you spray them. I would also have taked the moldings and all off but thats just me. I cant stand overspray all over the place. Anyways very informative as always Tom. You the man.

Didn't know there were different colors available for the Trim Paint. If a molding has a gash or scratch in it what is the best way to deal with it so I will not appear once repainted.
And I have JDM folding mirrors which I will soon repaint. They clip together much the same was as USDM mirrors. My question is should I fully dismantle the shell and paint each piece seperatley, or should I leave it toegher? I'm asking because if something goes wrong in the mirror I want to be able to take it apart again without messing up the paint.
