nice work. i did the same thing with my side moldings but i did it the hard way and took them off. Clean trim on a black car is a must.

Can this be used on the piece on below the window that cracks and is shiny underneath? I guess my question is, will this stuff work on the metal trim parts as well as the plastic?

Very nice DIY. Was the color of the trim above the VTEC sticker originally black? If so, that is MAJORALLY faded.
I have a question though. My trim around my windows, especially the rear back two, have faded badly. I know the material is not the same, but do you think that would work? Taping and painting? Using Armoral just doesn't get it shining anymore.
Where did you get the paint?

That's what I like to see, DIY, I was gonna make one of how to paint a car from scratch, but I'm aftway finish, and didn't take the time to take pictures.
Next project will be swaping rear drums with disk brake. Speeking about this, should I do gsr rear or just si rear???
Thanks
Jonathan

what a great write up
i have spent more than enough money to buy new moldings, on crap that doesnt make them black again.
i will have to give this a shot

Why not just clean the car, then use something like 3M Tar and Adhesive Remover (Spray can that's awesome at taking off wax residue off of moldings), and then just use a black dressing (something that would polish the black and leave it with a nice black finish)? Just wondering. Looks good though. I like the hatch.

Because that plastic dressing stuff doesn't work worth a crap, and it looks too shiny.
If it were that easy I'd do it, but this isn't just a temporary cover up, it's more of a long-term "temporary" remedy. the paint should last shitloads longer than any sort of "black magic" trim shiner or whatever, you know?

Cool write up. I had not even thought about restoring the trim stuff, until now.
Now I just have to find me some manula mirrors, where do you get manula mirrors, is it a JDM thing?

You know I caught my own typo but really didn't feel like fixing it.

Do they recommend even a very light sanding with a high grit?
I am about to do this on my girlfriends Prelude, but she's been putting armor all on the rockers, and I was thinking I'd have to sand a little to allow better adhesion.

Armor All sucks because it does seep into the plastic.
I'd say really scrub the **** out of the moldings with some ScotchBrite pads dipped in alcohol or something to that effect.
I'd be afraid to do any sanding even with a really fine paper unless someone else has had good experiences with this.
again do NOT get their adhesion promotor. It's very glossy and dust and particles stick in it unlike the almost flat-like finish of the trim paint. The adhesion promotor takes for ever to dry too - stay away from it.

don't sand it at all. use a solvent to remove the armor all. alcohol or paint thinner should work.
