****please help i need help installing a waterpump on a stock 92 ex civic n timing***
Well this wat happenedit gets really really cold up here in washington dc n my dumbass just bought a civic well it was about 3degrees outhere about 2 weeks ago and i had water in the cooling system instead of antifreeze my dumbass.. So when i tried to turn the car on not knowin the water inside the motor froze so wen i tried to turn the car over it soundslike sumting broke it cut on but cut right back off i turned it on again it started but it was idlin funny it will rev up to 2000 rpm then down to 1200 and it just kept on doin that since then.. So i drove the car to my job which is like 3 minutes away well more like 4 n it over heated both the hose where cold.. N now i drove it to work again today it did the same thing but the top hose was hot the bottom was cold
heres what i did so far
change the termostat
drained the cooling system and put a 50/50 mix
i tried to replace the water pump but i saw that it was gonna be alot of work taking the left motor mount off taking the valve cover off power steering i just wanted to know if anyone out there have a better way on taking the waterpump out.
Ohh and if this might help i dont have no heat at all since that happened ...
Ill really apriciatte it if anyone could help.. Thanks my fellow honda lovers lol..
AND WHY DOES IT IDLE FUNNY DID IT JUMP TIMING OR SOMETHING..? AND WHAT IS THE TIMING SPECS FOR A 92 CIVIC EX AUTO?

x2. The first thing the shop manual says in its procedure for removing the water pump is to remove the timing belt. If you have never done a TB before, it is a big job. If you have the time and have worked on cars a fair amount thus far, you should give it a try.
Maybe be thankful it is cold enough that so far it sounds like your engine has not overheated and so the head gasket (for one) is still okay. :-)

Lots of newbie types here ask about steps in changing the timing belt, so there is plenty of help.

your coolant has a big part in your idle, coolant runs to your IAVC which has a wax ball or somethin like that, the coolant warms the wax and when the wax is melted the car is at normal operating temp. So if your water pump is not pumping b/c the frozen water start-up, coolant is not being sent to your IAVC, hence your F'd idle.
A water pump is not hard to change in-car. if you have any mechanic knowledge it shouldn't take you more than a few hours, maybe set-aside a day, incase you run into more problems.
Search for Helm's Manuals online, they are posted around the site somewhere. It will give step-by-step with pics! what more could you want!

heres a link for a manual, also i forgot your biggest problem will be getting the pulley bolt off, if you dnt have an impact wrench its almost impossible, but there are people who make a 20& tool that really help, I'll find the s/n of someone who makes and sells them.

The tool I made for my 91 and 93 Civics is really for the "serial hobbyist," know what I mean? It took me a long time to figure it out even with a lot of help from a guy at another Honda forum. OTOH, I know a person who had never heard of this tool. I sent him to my site. The next day he snapped back at some joker that it took him around ten minutes to make the homemade tool, and he got the bolt off lickety split using it. Granted I am sure he was someone with serious power tools and experience with all things mechanical.
I really ought to emphasize how happy many are just running down to the local garage and having them bust the pulley bolt loose with one of those big bertha impact wrenches. No pride lost. :-)

Maybe one of the ones that uses an adj rubber line to wrap around the filter, just wrap it around were the ps or alt belt goes.
