Default this *$%#&* civic can any one help me?

My boy blew out his clutch about a week agoe. we fixed that and he was happy to get it up and runnin again. but <-- key word ) while I'm on duty hes out crusin arround and his car shuts down. he said his tach freaked out and the car stopped running. hes replaced the whole egnition sys. with the exeption of the distributer its self. the car is still getting no spark to the plugs he checked all the wires and such and replaced the coil nothing makes a diffrence. uggggggg. the only thing I can think of is he fried the ecu. can any one else help me out please. tip me on things to check or what t could possably be. My ship is puling out for 6 months on Mon. and he has duty tomorrow so tomorrow being the last day we have to fix his ride before we leave for 6 months wed like to fix her.

if you or somebody you know is electrically sound the get you a multimeter and test the harness of the ECU to see if the power is going to it.


P.S. Is your Check engine light on?

Edit: and the dist. harness

I wouldn't jump to it. This friend of mine had the same prob and bought a ECU still didn't work and later found out that ECU was not getin any power

Like I said i'm on duty but he said that the check engine light was not on. and I'm going to check for power to the harnesses tomorrow. any thing else? te car turns over so its not the batt. I just think its somthing simple (I hope) so thanx for the answers. the way things have been going on his car itll be somthing real expencive and drastic to fix.

Did you replace or check the ignitor?If not I would check that at least even if it is not the problem you have eliminated one thing that should not be ignored in this type of problem.

those are some big *** *******.... check for power and ground to the ecu. if you can, see if a friend with the same car will let you put that ecu in his car and see if it does anything. i wouldnt put the friends ecu in his car since it might fry it. this worked for me when i thought i had fried mine, turned out to be a bad ground on the ecu. does the fuel pump kick on for a couple seconds when you turn the key on? thats a clue to whether or not the ecu has power/ground.

Default i need help bad

what up guys? yo thanks for all the input for my car. my boy cp_harrington told yall what happened. my engine light does come on when the key is in the on positon for a long time.(i thought it was suppose to go off after 5 or so seconds), like he said i changed everything i could think of the ICM, the coil, the rotor, and cap. still no spark. i didn't check the ecu. i need some more of your ideas so i can get this b&^%$ running before i leave tomorrow.
