Nice work. And I'm glad you didn't call your hatch an "ek" like all the newer crowd does. And that yonka exhaust sounds identical to my bro-in-law greddy exhaust on his hatch.

Pick up a rear main seal and install a new one when you do the clutch, guarantee it needs to be done.
Also inspect your axle cv boots for cracks, they probably need to be replaced. Reman cv axles are about $50 each at autozone
Have the battery tested before you just up and replace it, it might just need a charge from sitting so long.
I use purple power to clean the engine block and a strong bristle brush and then hose off the block. Since you're removing the header you might as well clean up everything behind it
Soak down all of your exhaust bolts with pb blaster before trying to remove the nuts, be safe so you don't break them
Good luck with the rebuild!

yup thats the plan were the s techs but my tires are about done for cracks everywhere and no tread practically so the springs might hafta wait. I'm thinkng gsr blades to pick up since I'm gonna change tires i don't wanna buy new ones for steelies if I'm just gonna buy different rims anyways. but i like the 1.5 drop. since i live in kansas i need a little bit of clearance lol

Re: $600 98 Honda civic hatch project
lol yea it just hit me how slow my civic is when i drove in my buds miata so I've decided to keep it as a daily. coilovers and rims might be all i end up doing to it but we'll see. you never know. i find it kinda stupid to spend thousands of $s when its just a honda lol so ill save up for a real sports car and play with this one for now

I just picked up my friend's 00' Ek shell for $600. Can't wait to start tinkering with it. Luckily it's got like new bushings, gsr brakes all the way around and coil overs. I need a motor and trans but have no idea on what I want to put in it. Good luck man!

Re: $600 98 Honda civic hatch project
Yea I picked up a 98 a few weeks back for $650. I put in a new Oil pump, water pump, timing belt, Oil pan gasket, and valve cover gasket. She is running smooth now. Found color matching hood, fenders, front bumper and driver door at pick your part for $200. Picked up some lowering springs and ended up spending too much $500 on some SI rims and she looks beautiful now. Had to do a small piece of body work behind the driver door and still need a final color sand and wax but I'm pretty happy. Ill post a pic later. I really want to do the SI rear lights but this was supposed to be a flip so I'm already over budget.

Re: $600 98 Honda civic hatch project
I picked up the car 16 days ago. Im pretty happy with the progress.
From the original Ad for the car
Door was pretty dinged up
driver quarter panel and missing molding
not liking the rims
Shot with temporary rims after adding the new springs, honestly it doesn't look bad but those rims need a bit of love.
New emblem is on the way, i don't think i'm going to try to fix that small dent in the hood
SI rims look really good but don't make the car look modified.
Added the Honda Motors Online sticker to add a little extra street cred. lol
Still considering the SI style lights., i feel like they would make the car look better. Not sure what to do about the exhaust.
behind the door was just repaired and painted, not wet sanded yet, should i add clear?
