"WRX" Sound
Hey, i have a 99 si with a swapped B16A. I'm only 16 and it's my first car. I've searched around for a while but havent found anything yet. It sounds almost like a wrx. I've read that this sound is usually a symptom of a burnt valve(s), or if it isn't runnin on all cylinders. I have had the valves checked, all good as gold. Good compression all across also. The car still pulls good and there's been no power loss. Will give a little puff of smoke at vtec, but that's it. Are there any other reasons that it could sound like this?

I think there is a crack in one of the runners of your header... take the header off, and look at it very carefully all over.

if its a 2 piece header... check to see if there is an exhaust leak on the header...
i have a 2 piece kamikaze header and when the gasket blew the one that is between the 3 bolts on the header my car sounded like a WRX too...

Re: (Hardedge)
pull all of your injector plugs off 1 at a time and if the sound doesnt change at all when you pull 1 off or another off thatll be your prob. i had the same exact sound when i rewired my injector plugs to in stall new injectors. was there any wiring done on the car in order to facilitate the swap?

i agree check you injector plugs more than likley one isnt all the way on there... other things could be a bad spark plug....

I have a friend in New Glasgow with a 91 hatch with a b16 swap in it. It sounds like a subaru as well. Car runs perfect (14.7 @ 93mph). I think his is because of the 4-1 header on it. No need to fix it if it isnt broke IMO.

I have a jdm b18c-R swap with megan 4-1 headers, test pipe, and full 2.5 megan "drift spec" exhaust. And it sounds like a WRX, runs perfect..
