"JDM" Civic Navi
Ok I found this navigation system for my civic (98' HX/GSR) for about $300 so far and it has what looks like to be everything with it such as trim, screen, all controls wiring and so on but i was wondering if this would work in usdm civics considering this thing is "JDM" would it only have maps of japan and surroundings areas or can you get it programmed to work here.

chances are its made for japan and all disks will be for japan and surounding area. But who cares if it looks cool

I believe you would have a hell of a time hooking it up. I don't think its really worth the money just get an oem sir head unit and call it a day, not trying to be a ***** but here is a picture of mine and im more than happy with it. Its amber backlit and only cost me 70 canadian on ebay. the oem connectors just clip in and it works with both acuras and hondas

Ive been wondering the samething, i wonder if any of the u.s disks work from the new cars coming out that have navi's in them.

The new cars have DVD's. Late 90's/Early 2000's use cd's. Those are what is supposed to work.

With the full wiring harness and tape slave, the SiR Navigation plugs right into a 99-00 civic with a little modification to the vents.

Re: (Eran)
I too have heard about trying the non-dvd disks of a model in the us equiped with navi but i heard the reason for that was because in japan the dvds are in "pal" format and here is "NTSC" format but could you just copy the dvd and change the format so you can use the newer up to date maps. also wiring it up will take a while all that comes with it are the connectors attached to it the rest is cut off but i have a honda service manual that tells you everything you could ever ask for on a civic even all the wiring the only catch to that is its a pdf so what i have to use has to be printed then taken to the car but then again i dont know it that manual says anything about the navi system ill have to look and see. but thanks for helping me with this guys.

Re: "JDM" Civic Navi (b18c-ivic_gsR)
I think this idea is going to be scraped because i cant find anything on wiring it up and since my service manual is US spec I says nothing about navi.

Re: "JDM" Civic Navi (OTOKOTO-TSOI)
People that have these are for "jdm points" at shows and what not. I mean they look really cool don't get me wrong, but from what I have heard it is impossible for that to used in the US the cd's are completely different even from our 2000s us cars. The way the data is formated onto the disk is different. I would recommend just retrofitting the TSX or some other navi screen into the unit itself. good luck though keep me posted
