URGENT!!! P0812 code ,Gear Indicator LED will not light up in Reverse on cluster
06 Civic Ex,A/T, very low miles, the LED indicator will not light up when in (R),but lights up in all other selected gears and (P) , all wiring and connectors look good, replaced switch, light still comes on,I doubt LED light in cluster would burn out
I know its P0812 Open in Transmission Range Switch ATP RVS Switch Circuit,
it won't clear out with my small scanner and most of the time scanner says "no trouble codes found" and yet the CEL is still on,so I have to disconnet the terminal on the battery to clear it, sometimes I can drive for few days before it comes on, sometimes it takes 10 minutes for it to come after beeing cleared, especially when I would drive in reverse for 50-75 feet ,
what is the solution ?is it possible that the cluster is bad? would solenoids on top of the tranny cause that CEL to come on?
UPDATE !!!
after swapping out the cluster, the "R" indicator in the cluster still won't light up,so I tried swapping ECU/ECM, it turns out that EC is the problem,I just have to flash and re-program immobilizer which is built in the ECU,because after only few seconds of running the car dies and green key light flashes(immobilizer),since it doesn't recognize the key
Figured this post may help someone in future,
also I must add, my car was invilved in minor fender bender, but hard enough to shift the battery ,which bumped into the ECU,the face cover on ECU has a vent built into it, the back of the cover has a raised area around that vent, which bumped in two of diodes or resistors causing open circuit and throwing the P0812 code

There was some guy who made a thread about a totaled civic and the owner wanted it fixed, But he had the same problem as you look it up. The thread is full a fail beacuse he is a d-bag.

Yeeeey! I just got back from Honda, after 20 minutes of getting all data off original ECU,swapping them out,e.t.c. and $40, all my lights work properly,
Thanks for your help. I had the same problem with my 2008 Honda Civic which had a front end accident. The ECU was the solution which fixed my R light and got rid of the P0812 check engine light. Thanks again!!
I'm glad I could help, anyone with minor front end collision will most likely have to replace the ECM because of dumb positioning ,like there is not enough room under the dash like previous generations had . And I'm sure by now it' should be a pretty well known problem

Hey there How does one change ECM because have the same exact problem with R not showing up on cluster and D indicator falshing also think there was accident too Did you go to the dealer to do it or not ?
My '07 Civic LX Auto was involved in a front end collision before I bought it. After owning it for a few months, now at 92k Kms, I inserted the key and saw the D green light flashing on instrument panel along with a Engine Check Light that came on. I turned the key to OFF position and then to Ignition. Only the Engine Check light stayed on.
Went to the Honda dealer and after diagnosis, it is p0812 error code and they recommend a new PCM module. They told me the part costs 925 $ but they can sell it for about 700 $ to me and labor to cost extra.
The car drives just fine even though the red light does not work on gear indicator panel when I engage reverse. I have faced no problems in forward or reverse gears at any speed.
I have read many posts for this problem and many of the vehicles had this problem after the car crashed. My question is whether it makes sense to go for a new PCM(power train module) to avoid future inconvenience or should I drive it as it is? Is it just a glitch or needs immediate replacement for the part?
