Sports Injection. That is what the original meaning was when it came out on the 85 Prelude Si and 85 CRX Si. All the other Preludes and CRXs were carbureted, so Si denoted injection.
I believe there was a Civic S model--82 & 83--which had some sporty features (blacked out trim, better seats, possibly stiffer suspension?) but no fuel injection.
