Default Si Seats - Recaro

Hey,

I have been looking into changing my seats and noticed that the Recaro Trend is very much like the front seats in the SI. Does anyone know if this was the model our seats were fashioned after? I know heard somewhere our seats were manufactured by Recaro for Honda, but never got that confirmed.

I, too, have heard that Recaro was subbed out to make the seats for the Civic, but not just the Si. I have never heard this confirmed but I am pretty sure it is true. It might be one of those things that one company doesn't want to be really public because they'd rather get the credit for it, rather than the designing company.

For instance, it was never marketed heavily (for obvious reasons) but the Saturn Vue V6 used to be powered by a Honda V6. You could open the hood and still never see a Honda symbol, because Saturn didn't want the public to know, but it was there. I knew about it pretty early and when I asked a Saturn salesman about it one time at a dealership, even he had no clue what I was talking about.

Honda actually employs other companies quite often (the ones that I know off hand on just the 8th gen civic...Enkei-wheels, Clarion-premium stereo, Recaro?-seats).

I'm aware that the dc2R 16's are enkei's, but what wheels specifically on the 8th gen civics? The HFPs?

I also recall reading somewhere on here that recaro had no hand in designing the Si's seats, however I or the thread may have been mistaken. Anyone else have information on the original designers of the seats whether it was Honda or not?

I know the Si "flower" wheels are Enkei designed, and I think the Civic EX are Enkei's too.

I couldn't agree more. If the stock flowers were made by enkei, then why are they rather on the heavy side?

I was never too thrilled about the design of the oem wheel. Was even more turned off when we put in on the scale.

Enkei also made the HX rims--possibly VX rims as well.

Incorrect, the 98 spec JDM wheels were made by Asahi Tec, not Enkei. The 96 spec JDM wheels were made by Enkei. The 06-08 (and now 09) Si wheels were made by Alcoa. The 06-08 EX and Hybrid wheels were made by Enkei.

Ive seen this question asked before... along time ago... i dunno if anyone really figured it out... it was back and forth between members about recaro and some other company that makes seats for honda.... i tried looking it up on the Honda owner Link but it wont give any brand names, just the seat parted out and priced. I dont have much time to look but ill find out what thats all about later.
your right though, they do look close to a Recaro seat.

The seats in the link remind me of the seats in the evo Mr. 2006ish model. Might just be my opinion though.

yea from what i have seen the oem

takata = seatbelts (most nissans and toytas as well)
eneki = wheels
nissin (brembo on some models) = brakes

what you guys have just noticed is what is called an OEM. the corect usage of the term orignal equipment manufactuer. honda/acura do not produce parts, they design the cars, send the jobs out to differnt cmpaines, then send the parts to differnt assembling locations, canda, Us, mexico (gm) or where ever is deemed the cheapest (employess, then shipping to final destination *which is what you guys call XXXX domestic market* )

Honda does produce their own parts. Your right in some respect, but Honda produces in house, the majority of parts on every car.
